Thinking about surgery?

Anyone who is contemplating surgery, minor or major need to consider these questions: What are my options? Will surgery make me feel better? Help me live longer? How much longer? What will daily life look like right after surgery, or three months or a year later? What serious complications might arise? What will those mean for me?

It becomes more critical as we age and chronic aches and pains begin to show up regularly in daily life. A recent New York Times article pointed to a connection between frailty and mortality following successful minor medical intervention with older adults.

If you need a surgery, however minor, take this questionnaire with you to discuss with your doctor and decide on the next steps.
